The German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Illinois was established in 1948. Founded by a dedicated group of German Shorthaired Pointer owners and breeders, in the Greater Chicago Metropolitan Area, concerned in advancing the popularity of this outstanding breed of dog.
The German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Illinois is a very energetic and healthy club and continues to grow. The club is now one of the largest in the United States. Ownership of a German Shorthair is not a requirement for membership in the club. In fact, some dog lovers join the club to familiarize themselves with the versatility and temperment of the breed.
The membership of the club always extends a helping hand to new members to make them feel comfortable.
Benefits
of Membership
How you will benefit from membership in the GSPCI will depend on your personal experience and interest. Members are active in all facets of the sport including Hunting Tests, Obedience, Tracking, Field Trialing, Showing, Hunting and Pet ownership.
Many members are local breeders, with years of experience in the breed, who will help you find a dog if you are looking and also help you with any solutions concerning the breed.
We hold semi-monthly meetings, send email newsletters, host guest speakers at our meetings, hold training seminars, host four hunt tests a year, a field trial, a specialty show, steak dinners and we own a video library easily accessible for the use of our members.
