Foundations of Field Training Seminar and Intro to Field Training (Des Plaines SFWA – East Grounds) - 9:00 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018
Plan to join us on Saturday, March 3 as we kick off the 2018 training event season.
To register, send an email to John Singh at firstname.lastname@example.org. There is no cost for current GSPCI members.
Registration for the March 3rd session closes on Wednesday, February 28th
This session will introduce the Foundation Level of the Huntsmith Silent Command System (www.huntsmith.com). Dogs and handlers of all experience levels are welcome.
Experienced handler and GSPCI President, Perry Dlugie will lead the workshop. Perry has been a long time member of GSPCI, has owned and handled his shorthairs at the highest levels of AKC Hunting Tests and NAVHDA events. Perry has been training in the Huntsmith Mentoring Program and worked alongside pro trainers Rick Smith and Sonny Piekarz in learning the Huntsmith training system.
We will start at 9:00 a.m. in the East Grounds Clubhouse with a classroom session, where Perry will introduce the Foundations of the Huntsmith Silent Command System, basic equipment, training concepts, programs and events. After a short break for lunch there will be an optional session outside with our dogs for demonstrations of basic foundation concepts.
GSPCI has worked with Dogs Unlimited to create a training package geared towards the Huntsmith system. We encourage you to order yours at - http://www.dogsunlimited.com/i/4648/gspci-training-package.htm, or search GSPCI Training Kit on their website. Please bring your dog and minimum supplies for the day, including water, a 6-foot lead, 12-20 foot check cord, and a training collar. We recommend bringing snacks and lunch for yourself as well as appropriate clothes for the outdoor portion of the session. The training day should conclude no later than 2:00 PM., but if you can only attend the class room session, it will still be beneficial.
Additional Upcoming Training Opportunities
