The tests are on the West Grounds of the Des Plaines SFWA.

From I 55 exit on North River Road, then turn right (southwest). Continue past the trap ranges and over the railroad tracks. The test grounds will be on your right, just before Blodgett Road.

A few notes for the weekend:

  • We are running two tests on Saturday, designated as BLUE and RED.

    • All Master and Senior braces will be run on the west side of the road. All Junior braces will be run on the east side of the road.

    • The BLUE test will begin with Masters, followed by Seniors then Juniors. The RED test will begin with Juniors, followed by Masters and Seniors.

    • Marshals will be available in the parking lot to help keep you on schedule. Please ask the score desk to point out who the marshals are so you know who to check with for your start time.

  • The first brace of BLUE masters is scheduled for 8:00 AM, followed by seniors, then juniors.

  • The first brace of RED juniors is scheduled for 8:15 AM, followed by seniors, then masters.

  • If the cover allows, we plan on using a continuous course for the master and senior braces. Junior braces will use a bird field. A line marshal is available to help you familiarize yourself with the course prior to your brace.

  • Lunch will be available for purchase on the grounds. Your support for our cooks is appreciated.

  • As a courtesy to others please do not air your dogs off lead anywhere on the hunting test grounds.

  • Pictures of qualifying dogs will be taken approximately on the hour beginning at 10:00 AM, in front of the GSPCI banner to the east of the check in building. Pictures will be posted later in the week on the club’s website at www.gspci.org.

  • Camping is available on the grounds for $8 per night. Reservations are not required.

  • The running orders may be modified due to entries pulling or advancing to another level. Please allow time to accommodate a last-minute change.

  • Upon conclusion of the tests on Saturday afternoon, the fields will be available at the test committee’s discretion to GSPCI members and volunteers.

Note to new handlers:

Our tests are sanctioned by the AKC and have specific rules to follow. We suggest that you review the AKC Hunting Tests Rule Book AKC Pointing Dog Hunting Tests Rule Book in order to gain a better understanding of the objectives of a hunting test and the categories that your dogs are being judged on. While the AKC does allow the hunting test committee a degree of latitude to modify braces, it is to be done only to expedite the test and not to accommodate individual handlers, nor should it cause delays to the tests.
